Consider this. We live in a galaxy called the Milky Way. At one time when man tried to count the stars with the naked eye, he believed there was no more than a thousand stars in the sky. Today with our modern day telescopes we now know that our galaxy contains more than 100, 000, 000 stars. On top of that scientists have discovered at least another million galaxies just like ours. They found that the universe is much bigger than they had thought. They also discovered that it is orderly, as if it was put together by a Master designer. Well I have news for them. Good news. It was!
The bible says in Genesis 1:1; In the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth. God created all we see and then He created man (Genesis 2). But man disobeyed Him and sin, which separates us from God, was brought into the world(Genesis 3). Sin damns us to a place called hell that God only prepared as punishment for the devil and his demons. Payment for sin required a sacrifice. A blood sacrifice. But God had a plan all along. He would come to earth as one of us. He would be born in a manger in Bethlehem as a baby to a virgin named Mary and would have to face life like the rest of us. He subjected Himself to all the things that we face. The Creator and Ruler of this vast universe would come and live on this tiny speck of dust. He would be our Saviour. He is Emmanuel, which means God with us. He would become the ultimate sacrifice to bridge the gap that sin had created. Thirty-three years later He did just that and was crucified on a Roman cross just outside Jerusalem. He died and His blood was shed for us on Calvary. But three days later, He conquered death and the grave.
He is alive today and He is the reason we celebrate Christmas. His name is Jesus and He loves you so much that when He was dying on that cross He had you in mind. He came to earth and died for you. He knew you before you were in your mother’s womb. He knew and knows every single human being that has ever existed. He knows your every thought. The Bible says in John 3:16 that; "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever would believe in Him would not perish but have eternal life." Why not make this Christmas special and ask Jesus to be your Saviour. All you have to do is confess that you are a sinner and ask Him to come into your heart. That my friend would be the best Christmas present you can ever possibly receive. Life everlasting and joy beyond measure.
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 (KJV)
