We all have at times gone through periods where God seems to be so silent. We wonder where He is and sometimes it seems that at the times when our world is crumbling down around us He is the most quiet. It’s almost as if He makes Himself scarce during those times. We ask the questions; “Has He forsaken me? Does He really love me?”
My friends it is during those times He is simply asking you to trust Him. He is working out things. When He said He would never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5b), He meant it. Here are some verses to encourage you.
Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.” Deut. 31.8
Those who know your name trust in you,
for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you. Psalm 9:10
Once I was young, and now I am old.
Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned
or their children begging for bread. Psalm 37:25
For the Lord loves justice,
and he will never abandon the godly, He will keep them safe forever. Psalm 37:28a
The Lord will not reject his people;
he will not abandon his special possession. Psalm 94:14
Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-19
And just a reminder that we can’t think of God treating us as a human being would.
God is not a man, so he does not lie.
He is not human, so he does not change his mind.
Has he ever spoken and failed to act?
Has he ever promised and not carried it through? Numbers 23:19
Think back. Has not every time you have passed through trials or suffering He come through for you? Has He not seen you through it? Even though He was silent He still worked things out for you and will continue to do so.
Even in the quietest moments He is there. He is carrying you! You are His child and to Him you are more precious than all the angels in heaven. He didn’t die for them. He died for you! He wouldn’t go all the way to the cross for you and then abandon you. If you think that then you need to ask Him to help you understand true love. True love says I am there for you in the good times and the bad times. It’s there even when you are at you ugliest. True love says I love you so much that I would forfeit my life in order that your joy may be full. Read through 1 Corinthians chapter 13. His love for you goes beyond all that a human being is capable of.
So today if you’re despairing because you don’t feel him, lift up your voice and worship Him. Let Him hear your voice even if you don’t hear His at the moment. He is there. He is listening and He is working even when He seems silent. He simply says "Trust Me!"
