Democracy, Muslim Style

By Hal Linsey

As you can imagine, everyone is asking me my take on the significance of the Hamas victory in "Democratic elections" held in the West Bank and Gaza.

Let me put this into the larger context of my view on the situation. I view all of this from the vantage point of God’s prophecies concerning His miraculous restoration of Israel as a nation in the land He unconditionally promised them "in the last days."

God predicted the following things through the prophet Ezekiel, in stages:

Stage 1

The physical restoration of the Israelites to nationhood in their ancient home land from their worldwide dispersion:

Thus says the Lord God, "Behold, I will take the sons of Israel from among the nations where they have gone, and I will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land; and I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel …"

– Ezekiel 37:21-22

Stage 2

This restored nation of Israel will be attacked in "the last days" by a coalition of the surrounding nations (that are all Muslim with Persia preeminent) that will be armed and led by Russia:

On that day when My people Israel are living securely, will you not know it? You will come from your place out of the remote parts of the north [Russia], you and many peoples with you [Muslim nations], all of them riding on horses, a great assembly and a mighty army; and you will come up against My people Israel like a cloud to cover the land. It shall come about in the last days that I will bring you against My land, so that the nations may know Me when I am sanctified through you before their eyes, O Gog.

– Ezekiel 38:14-16)

Stage 3

After Israel’s Messiah miraculously delivers them from utter destruction, they will recognize who He is and believe in Him:

And I will set My glory among the nations; and all the nations will see My judgment which I have executed and My hand which I have laid on them. And the house of Israel will know that I am the Lord their God from that day onward.

– Ezekiel 39:21-22

The prophet Zechariah describes their conversion:

I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn.

– Zechariah 12:10

There is only one time in Israel’s history when Israel "pierced her God" – it was when they rejected their Messiah, Yeshua Ha’Meshiach, and delivered Him to be crucified by the Romans. (I am not saying here that Israel alone is guilty for that. Since the Messiah died for the sins of all mankind, we are all equally guilty for His death.)

Now to the main point of my understanding of these prophecies. According to God’s prophecies – that relate to these very times we live in – once Israel is restored as a nation from their worldwide dispersion, they will never again be destroyed as a nation. Israel will go through the greatest calamities of their history, but God will not allow them to be destroyed and scattered again. The whole context of Ezekiel chapters 36 through 39 promises this.

I analyzed the disaster the Oslo Peace Accords triggered, with its even more catastrophic offspring, the Roadmap to Peace. I surmised that unless Israel soon chooses a leader that will be strong enough to fight off foreign intervention, refuse to give into terrorists and deal in strength against those who vow that they will wipe Israel off the map, they will be destroyed.

I know of only one leader in Israel who has the kind of understanding of Islam and the courage and strategy to deal with them. His name is Benyamin Netanyahu. This is why I sought and got an interview with him in early November while I was in Jerusalem.

In that interview, I asked him what would be his plan if elected prime minister again. His answer was awesome in its insight, clarity and wisdom.

When I talked to knowledgeable people about Netanyahu getting elected, no one gave him a chance. My friend and astute news analyst Morris Beschloss thought it was virtually impossible. I said to him, "Just watch. I believe God will move events around so that ‘Bibi’ Netanyahu will be elected." He now believes along with me that this is a real probability.

Two events changed the whole political landscape in Israel, not to mention the world’s. First, Ariel Sharon had his tragic stroke. Second, Hamas was elected to power in a truly free "democratic election."

This last event shocked even the most liberal-minded peacenik dreamer in Israel. Now most of Israel realizes that the only hope to survive is to bring in a leader who will not give anything to "terrorists because he knows it only emboldens them to attack more and gives them power over the few Palestinians that might not want to use the jihad option."

It is my sincere prayer for Israel that they elect Mr. Netanyahu as their next prime minister. I can’t see anyone else doing what needs to be done.

In the meantime, we Americans need to learn the lesson that all of the dictatorial rulers of Muslim countries know only too well. They are never foolish enough to allow a truly free, democratic election. These leaders know that if they did, most them would be voted out of power by the most radical elements of Islam. Just look at Algeria, Morocco – and, yes, Saudi Arabia – to name a few examples. Even Egypt exerts lots of pressure behind the scenes on their elections.

So America needs to learn a different solution for dealing with the Muslim world. Fight to set them free from the tyranny of Muslim leaders. Set them up in a democracy. Most of them will then use that "democratic freedom" to vote back in a radical fundamentalist and return to the severity of the Quran’s Sharia Law. That is their religion. It is contrary to concepts of Western-style democracy.

  3. I have always thought the battle for Judea stemmed right back to Abraham. Unfortuantely there is a third dimension to this article that ppl brush off as conspiracy theory or anti semitism.

    in one word – illuminati.

I believe in the bible wholeheartedly and I agree that the christian/jewish world and muslim world are divided. Both claim to be God\’s chosen people. ultimately, God will have the final victory over it all.

I\’ve heard it preached before that Palestine, historically has no claim to Israel. Troubling times lay ahead for the world, and God speaks very clearly, "All these things must come to pass."

    Greetings Gerry,

Indeed we must be in the last of the last days.  It should not cause us alarm or inaction.  Now is the time to share the good news of Jesus Christ to our co-workers and neighbours.

Say what did you think about the presidents speech to the nation…oh I forgot, you\’re in Canada. Well anyway, he said that the Muslim faith (not the radicals) is a noble faith, just wondered what you\’re thoughts were.

  7. I\’ve always wondered why nobody has ever tabled a UN motion to make a homeland for the Palestinians in modern day Philistia (wherever it is)?  It\’s where their people get their name from (Palestine=Philistine).  I\’m not naive enough to think it\’s the real issue but if historically they came from there… then I\’m just surprised nobody has looked at it.

It should be painfully obvious that man\’s peace will never truly work in the miidle east.  Under the Ehud Barak Administration, an offer was made to the PLO to give them practically everything they wanted… but they threw it all away over a dispute over access to holy sites and the government of Jerusalem.  In diplomacy, the Western mindset is to negotiate until you can get the best deal and compromise so everyone gets a fasir deal.  The philosophy in the middle east seems very "all or nothing".   It is a totally different culture isn\’t it?

Whatever anyone tries to do, the Proverb is true:

"In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps." Proverbs 16:9

"Many are the plans in a man\’s heart, but it is the LORD\’s purpose that prevails." Proverbs 19:21

"There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the LORD." Proverbs 21:30

Or as Einstein once said, "God doesn\’t play dice".

Do you know how much God loves us????
    I\’ll show you how much…
He forgave this woman who preached against Him saying that Jesus never died in the cross….
He forgave this woman who hurt other Christians…
He forgave this woman who was soooo full of sin…
He forgave this woman who was a zealous moslem..
    This woman was me!!!!!
Now JESUS uses me totally and completely for HIS GLORY AND PRAISE!!!!
    Praise THe Lord.
    love….Fatima.

  9. One thing I\’ve heard said several times is that the reason a lot of Muslim\’s don\’t like dogs is because of what happened after Mohammed\’s death.  Apparently they buried him in a shallow grave in the hope that he would rise… but he was eaten and "defiled" by wild dogs.

If that\’s true it should send alarm bells ringing, because it immediately brings a parallel to my mind.  It\’s more or less what happened to Jezebel – and we all know what God thought of her
