Only fools say in their hearts,
       "There is no God."
Psalm 14:1a (NLT)
"A man can no more diminish God’s glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling ‘darkness’ on the wall of his cell…"  C.S. Lewis
The heavens tell of the glory of God.
The skies display his marvelous craftsmanship.
Psalm 19:1 (NLT)
"As Christians we accept one foundational truth – God – and everything else makes sense. An atheist denies God and has to accept incredible explanations for everything else. It takes more faith to deny God than to believe in Him." John MacArthur – Grace to You
From the time the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky and all that God made. They can clearly see his invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse whatsoever for not knowing God. Romans 1:20 (NLT)
"In whatever direction you turn, you will see God coming to meet you; nothing is void of him, he himself fills all his work." – Seneca The Younger

"To whom will you compare me?
Or who is my equal?" says the Holy One.

Lift your eyes and look to the heavens:
       Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one,
and calls them each by name.
Because of his great power and mighty strength,
not one of them is missing. "
Isaiah 40:25-26 (NIV)

Christ Himself is my righteousness. I look at Him as a gift to me, in Himself; so that in Him I have all things. He says, I am the way, etc.; not, I give thee the way, etc.; as if He were working on me from without. All these things He must be in me, abiding, living, speaking in me; that I may be the righteousness of God in Him (2 Cor. v. 21); not in love, nor in gifts and graces which follow; but in Him.

Martin Luther

Creation Calls

I originally wrote this for our church’s bulletin in the Fall of 2004 and since we are in the midst of Fall again I thought it would be good to post it once more.

The heavens tell of the glory of God.

The skies display his marvellous craftsmanship.

Day after day they continue to speak;

night after night they make him known.

They speak without a sound or a word;

their voice is silent in the skies;

yet their message has gone out to all the earth,

and their words to all the world. Psalm 19:1-4a (NLT)

For ever since the creation of the world His invisible nature and attributes, that is, His eternal power and divinity, have been made intelligible and clearly discernible in and through the things that have been made (His handiworks). So [men] are without excuse [altogether without any defence or justification] Romans 1:20 (AMP)

This morning as I was waiting for my lift to go to work my eyes were captured by a beautiful sunrise. The rays of the sun were streaming through the clouds making them shine gold. Below them flew seagulls their wings also tinted with gold. I found myself saying, God you painted all this for me this morning, oh how great and marvellous is your love towards me.

This fall 2004 has been one of the most beautiful I can remember. The colours have been absolutely gorgeous. Spring happens to be my favourite season with it’’s bright colours and beautiful smells, especially lilac, my favourite. But this fall has taken my breath away. The reds, the golds, the oranges and the yellows are so vibrant. No painter, no photograph could truly capture this beauty that God has created. It is amazing that from things dying can come such beauty as this. It reminds you that from Christ’’s death came the beauty of the resurrection.

There is a song written by Brian Doerksen called Creation Calls. The lyrics are beautiful.

I have felt the wind blow

whispering Your name

I have seen Your tears fall

when I watch the rain

How could I say there is no God

When all around creation calls

A singing bird, a mighty tree

The vast expanse of open sea

Gazing at a bird in flight

soaring through the air

Lying down beneath the stars

I feel Your presence there

I love to stand at ocean’’s shore

And feel the thundering breakers roar

To walk through golden fields of grain

‘‘Neath endless blue, horizon’’s frame

Listening to a river run

watering the earth

Fragrance of a rose in bloom

a new-born’’s cry at birth

I believe . . . I believe . . . . I believe . . .

1994 Mercy/Vineyard Publishing

CCLI Song No. 1346834

God created all this for us. All the beauty we see, the mountains, the seas, and the stars. He painted it all for us. His signature is found in every single one. So wondrous are His works. Man is without excuse as Paul said in Romans. Man can try and say all this just happened but he is deceiving himself. For these things all to have happened on their own would be like a tornado going into a junk yard and producing a fully functional 747 Jumbo jet. Man denies it because then that would mean that all his actions would be accountable to a higher power. He likes to believe that he controls his own destiny. But to deny God exists doesn’t mean you will escape judgement. You can say over and over again a thousand times I don’’t believe. It won’’t change a thing. You will still have to face Him one day.

Revelation 12:11-15 says; Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. This judgement is not for Christians and they have nothing to fear. It is for non-believers. Just to believe in God is not enough. You have to accept the fact that His son Jesus died for your sins, turn from them and invite Him to be Lord of your life. God loves you and has never intended this place for you. It is your choice.

Oh Lord we praise You for all Your marvellous works. There is none so wonderful. None so beautiful and loving as You are God. Thank-you for your creation, for in it we see Your love and care for us.

The Unpardonable Sin?

There is a group of people in our churches today that are treated as outcasts and lepers. I am talking about the divorced. As one who has experienced it, I do know what I am talking about. Before I had the trouble I did in my own marriage I was one those who looked down on those that had failed marriages. I guess you could say I had a pharisaical view. Being a deacon on the board of a church put me in a place where when somebody’s name was mentioned for a leadership position one of the first things that would disqualify them was whether they had ever been divorced. In Many cases it was not the fault of that person. They had tried everything to keep their marriage together. I remember not wanting to attend a couple of friend’s wedding because one of them had gotten divorced before he was a believer. It hurt them both because many from our church refused to attend. We had a tendency to look down upon those that were divorced and treated them as second class.

Let me be clear on this subject. Marriage between a man and a woman is a sacred thing. For the believer, it is a covenant made with God and is an earthly representation of Christ and His bride, the church (Eph.5:25-33). Which is one reason why satan hates it with a passion and will do his utmost to make a marriage, especially a Christian marriage fail. Malachi 2:16a: "I hate divorce, says the Lord God of Israel." According to the Bible, God’s plan is that marriage be a lifetime commitment.

Jesus was asked what He thought about divorce one day.

3Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?"

4"Haven’t you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’

5and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? 6So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

7"Why then," they asked, "did Moses command that a man give his wife a certificate of divorce and send her away?"

8Jesus replied, "Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. 9I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery." Matthew 19:3-8

The Greek word translated "marital unfaithfulness" is a word which can mean any form of sexual immorality. It is can mean fornication, prostitution, adultery, etc. Jesus is saying that divorce is permissible if sexual immorality is committed. Sexual relations is such an integral part of the marital bond "the two will become one flesh" (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:5; Ephesians 5:31). Therefore, a breaking of that bond by sexual relations outside of marriage might be a permissible reason for divorce. If so, Jesus also has remarriage in mind in this passage. The phrase "and marries another" (Matthew 19:9) indicates that divorce and remarriage are allowed in an instance of the exception clause, whatever it is interpreted to be. It is important to note that only the innocent party is allowed to remarry. Although it is not stated in the text, the allowance for remarriage after a divorce is God’’s mercy for the one who was sinned against, not for the one who committed the sexual immorality.

Another exception is given by Paul when talking about divorce in 1 Corinthians:

10To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband. 11But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife.

12To the rest I say this (I, not the Lord): If any brother has a wife who is not a believer and she is willing to live with him, he must not divorce her. 13And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is willing to live with her, she must not divorce him. 14For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified through her believing husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but as it is, they are holy.

15But if the unbeliever leaves, let him do so. A believing man or woman is not bound in such circumstances; God has called us to live in peace. 1 Corinthians 7:10-15

Also I believe that in the case where a spouse is abusive towards their wife or husband or the children that they should never be forced to stay in that kind of situation.

I loved my wife. I wasn’t the best husband in the world, but she was just about everything to me. When she became mentally ill our families and I tried everything to convince her she needed help. Many pastors tried to counsel her concerning it and they had failed. Her mental illness and the way she approached the children and I was becoming more dangerous with each passing day. It was decided after much counselling and advice from pastors and doctors that I should have her committed. Her mother and I had to get a court order to do so. It was one of the worst days of my life. The hospital after evaluation said that she was paranoid schizophrenic, but she was refusing treatment and they could only hold her for 10 days. As soon as she got out of the hospital she filed for divorce. For seven years I fought against that divorce and tried everything within my own power and through God to reconcile our marriage. Many great pastors and ministries tried to convince her she needed help and that she needed to work out our marriage but she refused even when she was confronted with the word of God. After the seven years I felt God was telling me it was time to let go and the divorce was granted to her. I never wanted it.

I came to see from the other side how many believers treat those who are divorced. I wasn’t even allowed to usher in the church I had known almost all my Christian walk. I knew I was called to ministry and yet I was not allowed at all to be part of leadership in any area. Those days became the darkest and loneliest days of my life and I slipped into depression. A great spirit of condemnation fell on me and many of the brothers and sisters that I thought were close friends withdrew from me. But God broke through. He sent a pastor to me who told me that God was not finished with me. That yes, divorce was a sin, but I was forgiven. He prayed with me and I was delivered from the depression and condemnation.

Today God has brought me to the place in leadership He always intended for me. I am more satisfied than I have been than at anytime other time in my life. God’s grace and mercy is greater than divorce or any sin.

Please don’t misunderstand me. Every avenue should be taken in order to try and preserve a marriage before going to divorce. But there are those who will look for any excuse to divorce and that is wrong and there have been some bad examples out there including a Christian singer who while she was married shot a music video with a country singer and decided that it was that country singer that God wanted her with and not her husband.

About 20 years ago we had a case that rocked a denomination. Two children of a couple of well known pastors in Quebec got married. It was a highly celebrated marriage and one of the largest Christian marriages that had ever been seen in the province. Within two years, the woman decided that she had made a mistake and wanted a divorce. The young man did everything he could to stop it but failed and within months of the divorce the young woman was married to someone else.

These people and many others have made a mockery out of Christian marriage. But there are those that have done everything they can to hold a marriage together and failed. Many people that God has called into leadership are destroyed not because of their divorce, but because of those in the church that lack wisdom and understanding. If God can forgive them why can’t the church? They have seen their ex-spouses go on to other marriages and what they see as happiness and yet their own church treats them with scorn and they wonder if they are really children of God. Please they need your love. The pain and shame that many of them feel is more than many of you can imagine. Divorced people are hurting people. They need your compassion and understanding. They need to feel part of the body of Christ again. Reach out to them. It’s what Jesus would do.

28"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30

Jesus! There Is Something About That Name

"Because of this, God raised Him (Jesus) up to the heights of heaven and gave Him a name that is above every other name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Philippians 2:9-11

"There is salvation in no one else! There is no other name in all of heaven for people to call on to save them." Acts 4:12

Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through Me." John 14:6

What is it about this name that offends so many? So many are unwilling to talk about Him. They will talk about God and religion but when you mention His name they get angry. Many times I would be having a pleasant conversation with someone and when I mentioned about Jesus and what He has done in my life, they end the conversation abruptly and leave. They don’t want to talk about Him. They would rather use that name as a swear word. As a curse and not a blessing. They will go out of their way to have His name removed from all public areas. If a teacher dares mention the name of Jesus in the classroom, they risk a lawsuit. Yet mention the name of Mohammed or Buddha and that’s cool. Nobody uses those names as swearwords. Can you imagine someone hitting their finger with a hammer and yelling, "Mohammed!"

1 Peter 2:7- 8 says, "Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient, "The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone," and "A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense."

Many reject Him because of the sin in their lives and yet He is the only one who can bring them hope. Jesus said He came to seek those who were lost. (Luke 19:10) and in Luke 4:18 He said, "The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed." Jesus came and died for everyone. He loves the homosexual, the prostitute, the drug addict. He loves all. The Bible says that whoever calls upon His name will be saved. (Acts 2:21)

Ask yourself, are you offended by the name of Jesus? He loves you. Pray and ask God why. Ask God to show you who Jesus is. Confess your sins to Jesus and then ask Him into your heart. I promise you, you will never be the same.

Did God Really Say?

Now the serpent was more subtle and crafty than any living creature of the field which the Lord God had made. And he [Satan] said to the woman, Can it really be that God has said, You shall not eat from every tree of the garden? Genesis 3:1 (AMP)

It’s no surprise to me that satan’s tactics have not changed down through the ages. He still says to those who are the Lord’s: "Are you sure God really said that?" or "Are you sure that the bible is really God’s word? After all there is so many good things in other religions. Open up your eyes and see that maybe the bible doesn’t have all the truth after all?" Every time I hear those words I hear the hiss of the snake.

Those who are satan’s would tell you that some things that are called sin in the bible are not really a sin. It means something else. It has been misinterpreted. How could things that feel so good and bring such pleasure be a sin? "Eve, Adam, Look at the fruit and see how nice and tasty it looks." Like them many give in and are lost forever.

For every living soul belongs to me, the father as well as the son——both alike belong to me. The soul who sins is the one who will die. Ezekiel 18:4

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23

We have whole churches that teach things contrary to God and have thrown out the bible all together because they listened to a lie. Denominations that were once great moves of God have fallen to great depths because they followed the path of the flesh instead of the Spirit. They listened to those who thought they knew better than God and had a better way. Those churches are now like empty tombs full of empty pews with only the dead attending. If only they had heeded the warning Paul had given.

I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. 18For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people. Romans 16:17-18 (NIV)

You need to keep your eyes open for people like this. People who will say they used to be a believer thinking that they have found a greater truth but in reality followed after a false teaching and have begun teaching it themselves. They heard a lie and believed it. Peter says of them:

But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them——bringing swift destruction on themselves. 2Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. 3In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.

11Bold and arrogant, these men are not afraid to slander celestial beings; 11yet even angels, although they are stronger and more powerful, do not bring slanderous accusations against such beings in the presence of the Lord. 12But these men blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like brute beasts, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like beasts they too will perish.

13They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done. Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, revelling in their pleasures while they feast with you. 14With eyes full of adultery, they never stop sinning; they seduce the unstable; they are experts in greed——an accursed brood! 15They have left the straight way and wandered off to follow the way of Balaam son of Beor, who loved the wages of wickedness. 16But he was rebuked for his wrongdoing by a donkey——a beast without speech——who spoke with a man’s voice and restrained the prophet’s madness.

17These men are springs without water and mists driven by a storm. Blackest darkness is reserved for them. 18For they mouth empty, boastful words and, by appealing to the lustful desires of sinful human nature, they entice people who are just escaping from those who live in error. 19They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity——for a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him. 20If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. 21It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them. 22Of them the proverbs are true: "A dog returns to its vomit,"and, "A sow that is washed goes back to her wallowing in the mud." 2 Peter 2:1-3, 11-22 (NIV)

For 25 years I was blind and believed that maybe there was other ways to God. That is until I had a personal encounter with Jesus Christ. When I met Him a light turned on and what I believed was just fairy tales and written by men, became real and alive. God’s Spirit reached into my heart and spirit and my heart was changed. There is not a thing that anyone could say or do that could change the course that God has put me on. There is not a thing or any other religion that will give you the answers you are looking for. All others are just copycats of the real thing.

God’s word never changes. What was sin yesterday is still sin today. You can’t rationalize it away. You can’t philosophize it to suit your own needs. To those that are perishing, it will always be a closed book. They will always be looking for ways to discredit it. God’s word has stood the test of time and many down through the ages have tried to destroy it and have failed. Many have foolishly challenged God, the creator of this entire universe and thought that they knew better then Him or the words that He has given to man to their shame.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. Matthew 24:25

Watch out for these men and women who will change the word of God into a lie. Watch out for their smooth and flattering words. Satan is the father of lies and has been a liar since the beginning. Don’t believe a word he or those that unknowingly or knowingly follow him say. They will tell you to speak plainly to them without using God’s word and yet that is always how Jesus confronted the devil. With the Word.

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. 2After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3The tempter came to him and said, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread."

4Jesus answered, "It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’"

5Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple.

6"If you are the Son of God," he said, "throw yourself down. For it is written: " ‘He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’"

7Jesus answered him, "It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’"

8Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendour. 9"All this I will give you," he said, "if you will bow down and worship me."

10Jesus said to him, "Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’"

11Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him. Matthew 4:4-11 (NIV)

If God’s word was good enough for Jesus, then it is good enough for me. Lik Paul said, have nothing to do with these people who teach things other than what you have learned. When God says something He means it. His word is true and alive. Every single word.

God Is So Good!

Your unfailing love, O LORD, is as vast as the heavens;
Your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds.
  Psalm 36:5

I will sing of the tender mercies of the LORD forever!
Young and old will hear of your faithfulness.

Your unfailing love will last forever.
Your faithfulness is as enduring as the heavens.
Psalm 89:1-2

Don’t believe God exists? Listen to this. We have been praying for our Pastor and his family that they would be able to move into the city for the last year or so as they lived almost an hour outside of Montreal in Ormstown. They also have only one vehicle and because his wife is our school administrator and 6 of their 8 children were enrolled in the school it made it was difficult for them to bring the whole family in. It also meant that Pastor Paul couldn’t get into the city as much as he wanted to be the pastor he needed to be. Then with the price of gas lately, it was putting an even greater strain on their already tight finances.

This past summer they had a chance to move to the city but God told them no, not yet and instead they allowed another family of eight to move in with them. All together they had 18 people living in their house in Ormstown.

Well a week ago Sunday, October 9th, Pastor Paul asked that the congregation pray that they find a place by the following Friday. He and his family were now feeling that God was saying that now was the time to move. Everyday last week right up to Friday they had been checking the Montreal papers for a four bedroom apartment and had come up empty. On Friday morning they found two listings on the Montreal Gazette’s news site. Both were for nine and a halves. The first one they called had a French answering service which Pastor Paul’s wife Kathryn thought she’d call back later. She then called the second one and the asked the woman if the could come and see the apartment. The woman asked where are you right now? Kathryn told her they were in Lasalle at the moment. The woman then told here she used to go to a church in Lasalle. Kathryn then told her that her husband was a pastor of a small church there. The woman then got excited and told her that the day before she had been talking to her sister about what to do about the apartment. Her sister told her to pray that God would send a pastor to rent it. She did and put the listing in the classifieds on Thursday. Pastor Paul’s wife was the first person to contact her. Pastor Paul and his wife then went to see the apartment. It had all just recently been renovated and painted. They signed the lease right there and the woman gave them October free. It also turns out that one of the students in our school goes to the church this lady attends.

On the Wednesday one of our deaconesses who works at the Salvation Army said that they had a bed for them and that Pastor Paul could use the truck on Friday to bring the bed down to Ormstown. Well now God had provided them with a truck to move to Montreal in even before they knew they were moving. On Saturday, October 15th. Half the church helped them move from Ormstown to Montreal and last night they spent their first night in their new apartment that God provided. He had been preparing this apartment for Pastor Paul and his family all along. Our God is an on time God.

God is so very, very good.

We Crown You King

Jesus, there is none like You

In majesty You stand alone

Your promises, every word

We have found that they alone are true

The Heavens declare Your glory

All nature knows just who You are

And we your people lay down our lives

To worship You, we worship only You

We crown You King

We crown You Lord

You are the Risen and Exalted One

Precious Lamb of God

We crown You King

We crown You Lord

Magnificent and Holy

You alone reign supreme

This is a song that the Lord gave me in 2002. Jesus. What a wonderful name. What a wonderful Saviour. When you know Him you can’t help but praise Him. Many times I have found myself waking in the morning with a song of praise on my lips. I look at many of the songs I have written and I have a hard time believing that I actually wrote them. I know that things like this are birthed in the Spirit and so for me to attach my name to it is difficult. I don’t want the name of Gerry Desjardins exalted only Jesus.

There was a time when I loved to hear my name on the radio or on concert posters. I am ashamed of those times, because I was taking the glory and not giving it’s due to Christ. We have to always examine our motives. Is what I am doing glorifying Christ or am I just trying to make a name for myself? Who is being exalted? If it is you, run. Run as fast as you can away from that direction and back to the place you need to be at the feet of Jesus. Those of us that are in the public ministry struggle almost daily with this. The flesh always wants to rise up and take credit for the things we do. Every day we have to proclaim Him Lord and King. Everyday we have to check our hearts and see if it is Christ or us that sits on the throne. It’s not about rewards and awards here on earth, It’s all about what will we hear Jesus say to us when we finally meet Him face to face. Will it be depart from Me, I never knew you or will it be well done My good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of the Lord?

If You are a believer then Jesus is and always should be the only one who is and will ever be exalted in your life.

I like the way the Message puts Philippians 2:1-11

1If you’ve gotten anything at all out of following Christ, if his love has made any difference in your life, if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you, if you have a heart, if you care– 2then do me a favour: Agree with each other, love each other, be deep-spirited friends. 3Don’t push your way to the front; don’t sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. 4Don’t be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand.

5Think of yourselves the way Christ Jesus thought of himself. 6He had equal status with God but didn’t think so much of himself that he had to cling to the advantages of that status no matter what. 7Not at all. When the time came, he set aside the privileges of deity and took on the status of a slave, became human! 8Having become human, he stayed human. It was an incredibly humbling process. He didn’t claim special privileges. Instead, he lived a selfless, obedient life and then died a selfless, obedient death–and the worst kind of death at that: a crucifixion.

9Because of that obedience, God lifted him high and honoured him far beyond anyone or anything, ever, 10so that all created beings in heaven and on earth–even those long ago dead and buried–will bow in worship before this Jesus Christ, 11and call out in praise that he is the Master of all, to the glorious honour of God the Father.

We crown You King, Jesus! We crown You Lord! Be Exalted!
