Only One Mediator

Mary, the mother of Jesus, is a woman who is honoured above all women as she was chosen to give birth to the Saviour. The angel Gabriel said to her in Luke 1:28; ""Rejoice highly favoured one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!"" She was a virgin and of the royal line of the house of David.(Luke 1:26, 3:23-38) She did not stay a virgin. After Jesus was born she and Joseph had many children. The author of the book of James was his half brother. (Gal. 1:19) Other brothers mentioned are Joses, Simon, and Judas. Also mentioned are his sisters. (Matthew 13:55-56, Mark 6:3)

She was not the mother of God, but of the man Jesus. She gave birth to His humanity not to His deity. To give birth to something means to bring something into being. Christ Jesus existed before creation. (John 1:1) He existed before He came in Human form. Mary is not Devine and to be worshipped. One day a woman approached Jesus and said "Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you." He replied, "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it." (Luke 11:27-28) He deflected any worship directed at her. In Luke 2:48-49 she showed some very un-Devine attributes.

Mary needed to be saved in the same way as any human being. The bible says in Romans 3:10 that there is none righteous, not one and that all have sinned (there is no exception aside from Jesus) and all fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23) You cannot pray to Mary or seek forgiveness for your sins from her. The Bible says in 1 Timothy 2:5; ""For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus. Jesus said it best Himself in John 14:6; No man comes to the Father, but by Me. Don’’t be deceived my brothers and sisters, there is no other name under heaven by which men may be saved. (Acts 4:12) Only by calling on Jesus can you be saved from your sins. If you are praying to Mary for salvation, you praying to no avail and will perish.

Gerry,Forgive me if i start a debate. Mary, is a hot subject for Catholics, and a lot of Catholics get offended when people say stuff like that. But I gfuess I\’m an exception: I\’m Catholic, and in no way offended. A lot of misconceptions about Catholicism is that we worship Mary and the Saints and stuff, but we ask them, to pray fopr us. We believe that because they\’re in heaven, they can pray for us as well. It\’s like asking someone to pray for you, except that person is in heaven. Mary though, on the other hand, is divine, in her relationship with Jesus. She is his mother, no other human can have that kind of relationship with Jesus. So we look up to her, and ask for her intercession, because she\’s the mother of God. Like in the wedding of Cana story, when Mary told him to do something about their lack of wine, and Jesus obeyed her. The Marian age started not long ago, i believe with a vision that Saint Catherine had of Mary. That vision was printed on small medallions that many catholics wear. (just a bit of history) You may also be htinking of the Hail Mary prayer that pretty much every Catholic prays. "Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of god, pray for us sinners, now nad at the hour of our death amen." The first half of that prayer was taken from the bible, "Hail Mary full of grace the Lord is with you." Is the greeting the angel Gabriel said to Mary. (Luke 1:28) and the other half "Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb" is the greeting Elizabeth said to Mary when Mary went to visit her (Luke 1:42) the other half, we implore for her intercessoin to pray for us, because we always need someone to pray for us, right now, and when we die.Jesus called his disciples to take Mary into their hearts as their mother. "When Jesus saw his mother and disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, "Woman, behold your son." then he said to the disciple, "Behold, your mother." And from that hour the disciple took her into his home." (John 19:26-27) That\’s my two cents worth. In no way am I trying to start a fight, I\’m just saying what I think I need to say.

  20. InflamedBoobyliciousWhy would you want to hate the one who loves you more than anyone ever could? Jesus is there for you and will always be.

  21. When i go to HELL i will raise an army of deamons and invade HEAVEN to rape and pilage…. then will "GOD" protect you when i am more powerful then him?

  22. _Emperor_muFFdy_ You have been defeated and made a fool out of. Your doom is sealed. So I rebuke you in the name of Jesus Christ. More powerful than God. HA! That\’s like a fruit fly boasting declaring he is greater than a human being and God is much more.

  23. I understand that you have started that you do not want a discussion that leads know where, but I Have an Honest statement that should be made. I dont mean to agree with wiccan or anything because I dont believe in it but on your msn space there is a link to a page that is an uneccessary attack on the wiccan.like in the below:"We hear "the divine" stated over and over again in Wicca organizations and witchcraft groups. Though they never seem to be able to define the divine! I hope they do not think that they are worshiping God. God is divine. By saying that they worship "the divine", they seem to say that they worship God. However they cannot worship God until they repent of their sin. For "the divine", GOD, tells us that witchcraft, magic using, spell casting and the likes of that is an abomination to Him, and God warns that those who do such things SHALL NOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN. " I really have to disagree with that. The wiccan worship the Pagen God pan and the Triple Goddess Diana. Im not sure is the word "triple" in her name has anything to do with the Trinity but she is seen as a Character as Divinity. You probably Remeber me being a Satanist at one time and I really got to say witches really dont worship the devil, The Church of Satan Regonizes Wiccan being more affiliated with the Pagan then with Satanism. This next part Im not so much condemning It just sort of startled me: "These people have been completely blinded by satan. They cannot even see him, though they work for him and under his power. Who do you suppose carries out the spells that are cast? Do they think it is God? God denounces it and warns against it. Do they think it is some spirit who is good? Good spirits are Godly spirits and they know and do God\’s will. Who is left? Who is carrying out these spells for them? " Is this guy claiming that the wiccan spells actually work even if its satan doing it for them? I dont believe in spells otherwise there would have been alot of hell raised by the Satanic spell I used to try and cast. Im sure Satan would have assisted the Satanist boy rather then the Goth wiccan chick. Anywho I think Im gonna retire to bed, I really appreciate your reading this. Bye

  24. gabbers_squirrel Where in God\’s word does it say that we can pray to another other than God? No where. There is only one who interceeds for us and that is Jesus. You can not pray to the dead.Praying to all these different saints is like the Hindus who have so many gods they pray to they have lost count. This tradition replaced the worship of the pagan gods that the romans and greeks had. You don\’t have to die to be a saint. The bible calls anyone who accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord saints. Yes I am a saint and if you have accepted Christ, so are you.Mary is not the mother of God, she is the mother of Jesus. She gave birth to His humanity. God was not born, He had no beginning and has no mother.Yes Mary worship is recent. As for the visions of her in the sky. The bible says that satan comes as an angel of light to decieve. He will do anything he can to fool this world including impersonating Mary.

  25. CameronThe link stays. There are many wiccans and pagans that visit this space and they need to hear the truth. Spells are very real. It is not a game. The reason I believe that it didn\’t work for you is that someone was praying for you. God also had His hand on you protecting you from those things which could destroy you.

  26. Your a smart guy.

  27. LOL sorry im probably getting annoying now. I just havent left comments in a long time. bet you thought I was not paying attention anymore eh? Is anyone allowed to use that take a stand for jesus banner or just people in your click type thing?

  28. WOW man!! You have got quite the fighting spirit and it is AWESOME! This blog reads out the true identity of the Devil and just how wrong it is to follow such a being. It is still sad though to see that there are people out there that do but I guess that is just an opportunity for us as christians to go out there and just preach the Word of God. I mean.. you are doing some great things really and I believe, causing such a stir in many hearts of our youth today. I\’m only 19 and all the way here in Sydney and it\’s great to see such confidence out there in the world in so many people. I will take my Sword and Shield and fight the good fight. I hope you don\’t mind that I\’m going to link you up on my MSN space. You are a great man of God btw!. God bless.

  29. Hi Gerry, God continue to Truly Bless you with His truth, STopping by to read some of your blogs you are getting lolSorry the Grabbers, funny noticed they sure know there religion, but poor very poor in disearnment on the word of God, AND The TRUTH ! ***** Gerry " you Go God speed for his wisdom to reach the dying, Hugs and prayers Verna,

  30. heyy!! right onn!! 😉 its awesome to see how devoted you are to God, and its amazing to see how much you love Him!! =) you\’re really brave to stand up for your belief!! =D keep it upp!! ^_~God bless, beckaa (^_^)V~

  31. Gerry,It\’s all about intercessoin. That\’s what we pray for. There have been miracles, attributed to the intercession of Saints, or Mary, here on earth. It\’s the same as asking someone to pray for you. It can\’t be the devil\’s work, when you look at the fruits of the event. E.g.: Saint Bernadette, when she was young, had a vision of Mary at this place called Lourdes in France. This vision lasted several days, and one of those days, the vision asked her to dig at that spot. She did, and a well sprung up, and the waters in that well heals people. *nods* The thing with debates though, is my mind can\’t really be changed. I\’ve present my facts, and my evidence, and you probably wont believe. you\’ve presented your evidence and facts, and i probably wont believe you. its sad how people fail to open their minds.

  32. gabbers_squirrel: Healing is not the evidence of the fruit of God. In Africa witch doctors heal supernaturally. In Revelations it clearly describes a sign of the Anti-Christ will be in their ability to perform supernatural healing. How do you know that these healings are not demonically annointed? Just because something supernatural occurs, does not mean that it is God. Very very important thing to know and discern in this day and age. I mean think about it. If you were God and you created mankind, (humour me please before you cast the stone of blasphemy), would you want your creation to bring their prayers and requests to other creations, or would you want them to deal directly and purely with you. I am really concerned about the intervention of man into our relationship with God that I see with Catholocism. Confessing to priests and being prescribed prayers and pennance to remedy the situation. It\’s like your own little sin credit card, and then you visit the priest and he tells you how to pay your bill. I know if I had of reported to man, I would never have obtained my relationship with God, because I would never have experienced him. Praying to angels, and those that have passed on through to heaven, (and for all you know Hell). Are these not idols? Is it not ascribing worship and prayer to a man, when He says all praise and glory is for Him and Him alone? Is He not our only and complete sufficiency? Why should we call on another? It really grieves me too see these religious walls that man has imposed on the believer. It puts God so far away, when he is omniscient, ever-present and available to us at all times. I have spoken to many Catholics, and I pity the controlling imposition of man\’s ways into their personal relationships with God. Man\’s agenda is a lie, and we need to know the difference between man\’s agenda and God\’s agenda.. Please do not defend you religion. Declare your relationship with Him.Jason

  33. gabbers_squirrel: Thank you for visiting my space. I brought it back here, because I feel this is benefical to all, specifically to the context of Gerry\’s message concerning the non-divine nature of Mary. This demands an urgent spiritual clarification especially when it comes to who we as children of God pray to, and ultimately ascribe worship to, (you can\’t have one without the other).—–OUCH JASON! Just reading your comment to me on A Worshipper\’s Space, that\’s all i really can say. OUCH! That was rude, and uncalled for. I am Catholic, not because I was raised Catholic, (my parents don\’t go to church) because I chose to be. You should know, that Angels and Saints don\’t need prayer. They\’re in heaven, praising God, they don\’t need us to pray for them, or worship them. We need them, to pray for us for that exact same reason. Because they\’re in heaven. It wouldn\’t hurt you to read some of the lives of these Saints, some of them have lived extremely inspiring lives and have helped many people. Examples: St. francis of Assisi, Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta, St. Peter, St, Paul. The only other thing I\’m going to say is that my church, was founded by Jesus. I know you didn\’t want me to defend my religion, but I figured, I\’d do both. Defend my religion, and proclaim my relationship with Him. I don\’t believe in God, I LOVE him, and gave my life to Him. I\’m living out my vocation right now, which is to love and serve my families. I\’m living out my faith, right here, right now. I don\’t know what else to say, except, don\’t be mad at me. I\’m tired of getting the worst persecution about my faith from other christians, who believe exactly what I believe. —– First, I\’m not mad at you. I\’m passionate for Him, as I believe you are — it\’s nothing personal. Second, I was not trying to be rude to you, so for future reference, what exactly did you find rude? Lastly, I understood that it was not praying for them, my point was praying to them. I get the concept. Please don\’t misconstrue this as persecution… it\’s an easy thing for a christian to do. (I believe the crown of a martyr is one of the highest ranked?) However, let\’s rightly divide His Word of Truth. I have a few questions for you: 1. Where in His Word does it say that we can make supplication to heavenly residents to intercede on our behalf? (obviously besides Jesus) 2. How do you know these people are in heaven? 3. What do you think God thinks about us asking someone else to speak on our behalf to Him, versus ourselves communicating directly with Him. Please help me to understand where you\’re coming from. Help me to not assume anything about you. Calling me rude substantiates nothing, and leaves people without answers. Please keep context and represent Him.Jason

  34. Sometimes i find myself questioning is there really a God?? I get confused on whether he is fictional or not. There are so many questions that can\’t be answered when i hear that god is the creator of all.Signed,Confused

  35. newfiegirl_909: I\’ve been in your shoes, questioning if He really exists. Questioning if it\’s just some emotional or higher power thing going on with me. But everytime I\’ve ever thought it, I cry out to Him. I cry that I\’m lost. That I\’m confused. That I don\’t know anything. That I don\’t even know who I am, who He is, and where I stand. And in an instant — He is there. In an instant, He reassures me with His Presence. And in His Presence is His love, power, majesty, compassion and strength. When I get back up, I can feel His glory… and then it is once again… All I live for.One more thing….Proverbs 24:16 [Amplified] For a righteous man falls seven times and rises again, but the wicked are overthrown by calamity When we think of a righteous man, we think of someone who is strong and wise and would never do evil or do any wrong. We make the righteous man out to be some kind of "Superman", that simply does not exist. The Bible says "a righteous man FALLS SEVEN TIMES". Do you ever think of a righteous man falling? It happens! That\’s why when people think they are righteous, and then fall, they get confused, because if they\’re supposed to be righteous, how could this have happened? To be righteous is not to be perfect. Where the righteousness is evident is in the last part of the verse: "a righteous man falls seven times AND RISES AGAIN". When the righteous fall, they are still righteous if they GET BACK UP. And then if you look further, it says "The wicked are overthrown by calamity". This is a harsh but true statement that says if we fall, and don\’t attempt to get up, we are deemed *WICKED* in God\’s eyes. (So much for pity parties huh?). I encourage you my sister to seek the Lord again. There is nothing you can tell Him that he hasn\’t heard before. I know it\’s hard to get our lives to line up with what He expects, but if you just keep at it, one step at a time, you\’ll get there eventually…God bless your honest spirit,Jason
