But as for me, how good it is to be near God!
I have made the Sovereign LORD my shelter,
and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things you do.

Psalm 73:28

These are tough times to be a follower of Christ. There was a time when sin was done behind closed doors. Now it is out in the open and people are encouraged to display it proudly. They are called courageous and patted on the back. Sin is in your face. You can’t watch television anymore without your beliefs being challenged. The music you hear played by youth today incites rebellion. The lyrics are filled with filth. They call it artistic freedom. One of them sings about the what he feels are the joys of rapping his own mother and killing his wife. Homosexuals shove their agenda in your face. There is no more shame in today’s society. When we as Christians try to speak out we are shouted down and told we are bigots. Wrong has become right and righteousness has become wrong.

Summer seems to be the time that it is more open. Every year people seem to be wearing less and less clothing. As a male who used to be addicted to pornography, it can be quite difficult. Men are stimulated through the visual senses. The way a women dresses or their lack of dress can greatly affect him and cause him to stumble. Tight jeans or pants, bare mid-drifts, or low cut blouses, a lot of these clothes don’t leave much to the imagination. Going to the corner store can sometimes be a nightmare for me. Don’t get me wrong, men can dress just as provocatively so that it affects a woman.

Everyday I realize more and more that our eyes have to be on Jesus continuously. Oh how we need Him now more than ever. As this world decays and falls into debauchery, He is the only stability we can find. We need to cry out daily for a closer walk with Him. Oh Lord, we long to love You more! Lord help us to fix our eyes upon You, the Author and Finisher of our faith. We long to be a light to this world! Please shine Lord through us brighter than ever! The lyrics to one of my favourite hymns says it best; "I am weak but thou art strong, Jesus keep from all wrong. I’ll be satisfied as long as I walk, let me walk close to thee. Just a closer walk with Thee, grant it Jesus is my plea, Daily walking close to Thee. Let it be dear Lord, let it be. When My feeble life is over, time for me will be no more. Guide me gently, safely over, to Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore. Just a closer walk with Thee, grant it Jesus is my plea, Daily walking close to Thee. Let it be dear Lord, let it be. Amen.

  1. How true that is. At 16, it\’s hard as all get out to ignore the way some of the girls dress. I often find myself just trying to stare ahead and not let my eyes wander.~digitrev

Hey Gerry, everything is just becoming \’normal\’ when studying at uni i did a lot on drugs, and most kids questioned didnt actually know cannabis is a considered a drug, cos everyone uses it! its scary sometimes! i wondered if u cud send me an email- i wanted to show you something I found- nothing serious, just funny. i understand if not 🙂 Blessings xxx

  3. Amen… i love your song about walk closer to the Lord… i never heard the songs… but the way you typed helped me knowing what the songs are! Too bad , i could not hear any christian song tapes that\’d be encouraged! Just pray for me to be strength with His Holy Spirit continuely even if no songs i d hear! I realize some songs will help encouraging the christians to be walk strongly and chin up in the Lord through the hard times… i need that kind of encouragement… *sigh*.. I read the Pslams. Smile!

  4. Hey don\’t get me wrong…. it doesn\’t discourage me to share the gospels if people dont like it or get mad like people got mad about homosexuality rights, I will still speak out!…YOu did right thing in telling the truth and God\’d want you to keep telling them till the end. ( i wonder if we will be charged for the hate crime against hoosexuality one day ? It\’s our risk for the Lord\’s sake!) Because many laws go crazy since peple must respect the disabillty people , must hire them to work, you know and now the laws can go crazy more when the govt \’d command us to accept them for marry them or we \’d be fined…. I hope God will rapture us sooner than have hard dealing with them! I hate the way they deal with the laws on the earth sometime.

  5. WOW…thats all I have to say about this post.and I don\’t mean wow in a good way. I mean it in an utterly disgusted shock way. Shocked of your ignorance.

  6. Lisa – Canadian_blonde2 People are right about us followers of Jesus. We are close minded. Jesus said I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me. There is no other way to God or salvation. All religion is wrong. Yes folks you heard it here! Religion doesn\’t save you. Religion is trying to live by a set of rules. Christianity is about relationship not religion. You have a relationship with someone who is real. Someone who is living. There is a song that goes. "And He walks with me and He talks with me." That is literal, but unless God opens your eyes you are not going to see that. There is nothing in this world that could ever offer to compare to the love and security I have found through Jesus Christ. He is the solid rock and all others are sinking sand.I can\’t expect you to understand and you won\’t unless God opens your eyes to the truth. This is what Paul said in 2 Cor. 2:14-17 But thanks be to God, who made us his captives and leads us along in Christ\’s triumphal procession. Now wherever we go he uses us to tell others about the Lord and to spread the Good News like a sweet perfume. Our lives are a fragrance presented by Christ to God. But this fragrance is perceived differently by those being saved and by those perishing. To those who are perishing we are a fearful smell of death and doom. But to those who are being saved we are a life-giving perfume. And who is adequate for such a task as this? You see, we are not like those hucksters–and there are many of them–who preach just to make money. We preach God\’s message with sincerity and with Christ\’s authority. And we know that the God who sent us is watching us.He also said later in 2 Cor 4:4 Satan, the god of this evil world, has blinded the minds of those who don\’t believe, so they are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News that is shining upon them. They don\’t understand the message we preach about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.By the way I am not a youth minister, I am a worship leader. Jesus loves you Lisa. I have lived 49 years and have not always been a Christian. I lived the party life for most of my teenage years and into my mid twenties. To the things that go on in the world I am not ignorant and niether am I ignorent to what other believe. There is no greater love than Christ\’s. It just can\’t be found.

  7. PrincesssweetfaceLisa1…I think you might have some issues. You have just expressed the desire to kill each and every homosexual person on the planet. Whether you want God to obliterate them or you want to do it yourself. And yes, if you went ahead with your plans you would have some hate crimes on your hands. Although the whole notion of \’hate crime\’ is ludicrous. As for your dislike for disabled people, I\’m not sure I know how to react to a comment like that. It\’s kind of scary. Like, in a ice-cold pit of the stomach clenching way.

  8. This is the sickest Myspaace I\’ve ever seen. People will never learn to care for one another & smarten up to reality with people like this preaching about an invisible man in the sky that allows millions to die needlessly and is such an inconfident fool that he needs constant attention to survive. Just for kicks, I\’ll pray to my lamp tonight, and go to bed knowing it would be a more gentle god than yours.Have fun scaring & warping minds.

  9. Raoul-Duke-III I think you better take a step backwards on what you have said to Lisa. What she means is that she has a fear of being arrested just for simply saying she disagrees with homosexuality. I know LIsa and she is a very gentle person who is hearing impared. As far as disabilities are concerned. Both her and her husband are disabled. They had to fight a lot to get to where they are.I had to delete your other comments because of swearing. As far as my comments concerning being a Christian. I get tired of hearing everyone calling themselves Christians. The KKK calll themselves CHristians, The Nazis call them selfs Christians. So many cults call themselves Chrsitians. A Christian is a disciple of Jesus Christ. His or her life does not belong to themseleves. THey devote themselves to spreading the Good News that there is hope for humanity. We don\’t hate homsexuals. And if there are Christians who say that they are not Christians. But the one thing we can\’t do is agree with their lifestyle especially when it comes to comprimising our beliefs.

Where is your lord now? Where is He in Iraq? Where is He in Africa? Where is He when millions of people are dying unnecessary deaths? Where? Religion is a state of mind. It is finding something to trust in when there is nothing else you CAN trust in. It is what gives one a feeling of safety in a world where nothing is really known to man. Another thing i don\’t understand is if the Bible is true, why did everything happen so very long ago, and yet nothing happens now? The world has fallen, crumbled into pieces and it is only a matter of time before it is completely destroyed? Why would your Lord let it happen?

I found this on a site, and i found it really interesting… An atheist professor of philosophy speaks to his class on the problemscience has with God, The Almighty. He asks one of his new Muslim students to stand…..Professor: You are a Muslim, aren\’t you, son?Student : Yes, sir.Prof: So you believe in God?Student : Absolutely, sir.Prof: Is God good?Student : Sure.Prof: Is God all-powerful?Student : Yes.Prof: My brother died of cancer even though he prayed to God to heal him. Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill. But God didn\’t. How is this God good then? Hmm?(Student is silent.)Prof: You can\’t answer, can you? Let\’s start again, young fella. Is God good?Student :Yes.Prof: Is Satan good?Student : No.Prof: Where does Satan come from?Student : From…God…Prof: That\’s right. Tell me son, is there evil in this world?Student : Yes.Prof: Evil is everywhere, isn\’t it? And God did make everything. Correct?Student : Yes.Prof: So who created evil?(Student does not answer.)Prof: Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things exist in the world, don\’t they?Student :Yes, sir.Prof: So, who created them?(Student has no answer.)Prof: Science says you have 5 senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Tell me, son…Have you ever seen God?Student : No, sir.Prof: Tell us if you have ever heard your God?Student : No , sir.Prof: Have you ever felt your God, tasted your God, smelt your God? Have you ever had any sensory perception of God for that matter?Student : No, sir. I\’m afraid I haven\’t.Prof: Yet you still believe in Him?Student : Yes.Prof: According to empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol, science says your GOD doesn\’t exist. What do you say to that, son?Student : Nothing. I only have my faith.Prof: Yes. Faith. And that is the problem science has.Student : Professor, is there such a thing as heat?Prof: Yes.Student : And is there such a thing as cold?Prof: Yes.Student : No sir. There isn\’t.(The lecture theatre becomes very quiet with this turn of events.)Student : Sir, you can have lots of heat, even more heat, superheat, mega heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat. But we don\’t have anything called cold. We can hit 458 degrees below zero which is no heat, but we can\’t go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold. Cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it.(There is pin-drop silence in the lecture theatre.)Student : What about darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as darkness?Prof: Yes. What is night if there isn\’t darkness?Student : You\’re wrong again, sir. Darkness is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light….But if you have no light constantly, you have nothing and it\’s called darkness, isn\’t it? In reality, darkness isn\’t. If it were you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn\’t you?Prof: So what is the point you are making, young man?Student : Sir, my point is your philosophical premise is flawed.Prof: Flawed? Can you explain how?Student : Sir, you are working on the premise of duality. You argue there is life and then there is death, a good God and a bad God.You are viewing the concept of God as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, science can\’t even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing. Death is not the opposite of life: just the absence of it.Now tell me, Professor. Do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?Prof: If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, yes, of course, I do.Student : Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?(The Professor shakes his head with a smile, beginning to realize where the argument is going.) Student : Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavour, are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you not a scientist but a preacher?(The class is in uproar.)Student : Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the Professor\’s brain?(The class breaks out into laughter.)Student : Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor\’s brain, felt it, touched or smelt it?…..No one appears to have done so.So, according to the established rules of empirical, stable, demonstrable protocol, science says that you have no brain, sir. With all due respect, sir, how do we then trust your lectures, sir?(The room is silent. The professor stares at the student, his face unfathomable.)Prof: I guess you\’ll have to take them on faith, son.Student : That is it sir.. The link between man & god is FAITH.That is all that keeps things moving & alive.

  13. Raoul-Duke-III You owe Lisa an apology. Until then I will sdelete your posts.

  14. NicoleI deleted your comment because to me the link it led to is obscene. My guest book is for saying high. The blogs are for questions and comments.

  15. What does being deaf have to do with killing homosexuals? Maybe I misunderstood because her post was so badly written. But to me it sounded like she thought equal oportunity laws were crazy? Her comment seemed to be about God bringing on the rapture soon, to take care of all the homosexuals.Am I just reading this incorrectly? What did she really mean by: "I hope God will rapture us sooner than have hard dealing with them!"If all she meant was she was fearing for her right to free-speech then I agree with her. She should be allowed to hate and fear gay people, and say how much she disagrees with their lifestyle, while claiming to love them at the same time… that\’s cool. As you may have gathered from my comment that you deleted, I find free speech to be utterly essential. (Try to spot the irony.) It also happens that I hold the right to freedom of sexuality just as high. Of course, if you run a church, then you should have the right to refuse to marry a gay couple. They\’d just have to find a church that would willingly marry them. I do have a problem, however, with the idea that the government should not recognise gay marriages. The main difference here is that a person does not choose to be a part of society. They are born into it. They exist within society out of necessity. A government that would impose religious (read: optional) morals on a society is out of control.I know what you mean about people claiming to be Christians. Baptists claim to be christians. You know, born-agains. Catholics claim to be Christians. Prodestants do it to. Mormons claim to be Christians. The list goes on. And my point is this:Christians are christians because they believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God (or literally God… however you wish to word it) and that he is/was the one and only true savior… etc.You are annoyed that the KKK were Christians? Guess what? THEY WERE! Yes, Hitler was Christian too. Just because they did stuff that you disagree with, doesn\’t make them no longer Christians. Both the Nazis and the KKK were viciously against homosexual marriage. Just like you. You can\’t just pretend you don\’t belong to the same faith, just because they have a bad reputation. If you want to call yourself a Christian, (which you are doing. You are claiming to be Christian… just like everyone else in the world who has ever claimed to be Christian,) then you are going to have to accept that in the past there have been certain notables that belonged to the same religion as you, who did some stuff that you personally aren\’t too happy about.I would like to ask whether you would be so quick to distance yourself from the KKK, and the Nazi\’s if history had not led to them being so universally despised? Of course, your answer is going to be: \’Yes! Of course I would. I am a good person. They are bad people!\’ But current religious regimes are doing the same things all over the world. Current Christian regimes. You, yourself. You are working to segregate a section of the populace who you believe are living an evil lifestyle. Hitler did the same thing with the Jews, who he saw as living an evil lifestyle. They refused to accept Jesus as the one and only savior. Jews, Gypsies, disabled people, homosexuals. They were all killed. What makes you different? How will history look back at you?No, you don\’t have to \’agree\’ with their life-style. As I don\’t have to \’agree\’ with yours. Personally, I feel that religion of any sort is essentially counter-productive. But if I were to find God, or whatever I wished to call him, on my own. Then hooray for me. Although I do not believe that there is a literal God, this has nothing to do with my comment here. But, if God were to exist, religion is not the only way to find him/her/it. And the Bible is just a collection of books, written by men. Not Gods. Men.So, um. Where was my point? I forget where I started. Sorry.

  16. Hi CandiceSince your question requires a lengthy response you can go to this link and it should answer your questions.http://jmm.aaa.net.au/articles/949.htmThank-you for your second post. It\’s Great.

  17. The link was not obsene – it only said that your interpretations of Paul\’s words are just one way of looking at passages that condemn homosexuality. I will not post the link again, although I think some of your friends & followers and yourself need to question why you take some passages literally, and others figuatively. What is your take on other words of Paul? Please respond how you interpret these passages:(1 Cor 14:34) Women should keep silence in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be subordinate, as even the law says.(1 Cor. 11:13-16) Judge for yourselves: is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head unveiled? Does not nature itself teach you that if a man wears long hair, it is degrading to him, but if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For her hair is given to her for a covering. If you do not take all the words of Paul literally, how do you choose? And if you do not follow all the teachings of Paul why do you interpret this literally?(Romans 1:26-27) Because of this God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

  18. Why do you keep deleting my posts? I\’m not trying to insult anyone. I think you\’ll agree to that at least?

  19. Raoul-Duke-III ,Hey, i want you to know that I already forgave you for bite me back ( smile). I am not afraid of the homosexuality or their rights and i can expect that I and the true christians will suffer under the "crazy" laws and that they can nail us onto the laws and send us to the justice where we may be punished.. but we will give the glory to Jesus\’ name because we stand on His truth and to suffer for our Lord and they won\’t be able to stop us from telling the truth. Look at Paul in the bible … they took him to the court because he told the gospels… people hated him. But he still didnt stop telling the gospels so should we do the same! We learn the examples that Jesus set in His people and to encourage other christians to do the same. We alll should fear God than people because God can destroy the body and souls into Hell. They can harm us but they cannot harm our souls….we are in God\’s care. Second , i don\’t hate homosexuailty, but i don\’t like their lifestyles…. these things they do in their life bring very disgusted and they twist all the natural things out of what God created in the first place….a mother and a father make the children.. beautiful designs God ever made….the same sexes of spouses are opposite to what God made in His purpose. And you must know that the bible says the homoesexuaility will have no place in Heaven unless they repent, period because God is HOLY!

  20. Thankyou, but I never asked for your forgiveness. Please, can you explain what you meant by: "I hope God will rapture us sooner than have hard dealing with them!"

hey thanks Gerry for coming to my space again and leaving me a comment, makes me happy to hear from you. Good to know that you haven\’t forgotten about me. 😀 lol and I am trying more and more to look toward God. I have been having some dreams some of them not all that good I wake up scared. I talked to the lady that I live with who is strong in her faith (she is a minister) and she took psychology in University… what she says makes sense. She said that I don\’t feel God\’s presence and I can\’t fully give myself up to Him because there is some stuff holding me back. From the dreams she says that it is someone or something that I care about that is holding me back. Lol sheila just called me we are going out or w/e so I will talk to you more another day…. God bless you and keep preaching your faith. People need to know about the goodness of God and the power that he has… talk to you later and God bless.

  22. Ok… the christians are suffering under the darknesses that causes when people live whatever they like to do… it brings more sadness and we stress to teach our children about God\’s words , to protect them from falling in their sin ways….we hate the sins, taht\’s where we \’d cry , to be hurted pains… is it enjoyment to live on the earth under the suffering? NO! We all look forward to leave the earth to join into Heaven with Jesus, to feel His joy and peace… no more cry, no more hurts, no more sufferings, no more fighting against the sins , no more dealing with the pains! Now here is like Sodom … God\’s wrath sure will come… you wait and watch! The world is coming to be cursed by the Lord! Many people don\’t honor God. They have no place for God to be here. The court removed the laws or bible off….they exchanged God\’s laws into their new laws now. Many things i can see are much changed so fast than before…. i can see… and it matches what the bible says! Whoaa….. Jesus comes soon! Itgives us the sign is that Jesus will rapture us SOOON! Exciting!

  23. So, you do wish death upon all of mankind?

  24. This makes me sad. That someone would be looking forward to the apocalypse. I realise that the world is not the happiest place to live in all the time. But you are talking about extinction.

  25. What exactly will happen to all the sinners when the Rapture comes?

  26. Raoul-Duke-III , I don\’t wish for them to be put death.. because their souls are so values! The souls are "eternal" spirits that will NEVER die and they don\’t deseve to be in Hell where it is the "eternal" place they will cry, pains in the fire… not a good pciture! That\’s why Jesus came to died on the Cross for our sins.. to be paid off.. but up to us if we accept His forgiveness. All of us must repent through Jesus\’ blood washing us ….what happens when Jesus rapture the chirtsians? I suggest you to read the Revelation in the Bible…. it is much scary… i can tell you that people who are left on the earth while other christians are raptured…. will see much -many troubles coming from God\’s wraths! There are many trouble comings.. read the revelation. Be wise to repent so you won\’t have to go through the tribuations! Gerry can answer you bit more… he may provide you the web where you can read about the rapture/tribuation…

  27. Right. And the sinners will suffer as a result of this?

  28. Hi Raoul-Duke-III , It may help you for the benefit to read:http://www.bible.com/answers/awarning.html

  29. How would an apocalypse fix things? It sounds like God has lost the game, and has decided to take his ball and go home.

  30. How long did God go on with His patience for people on the earth? Over 6,000 years! If God let peple go sinning and do whatever they like to on the earth , no one will survive as the bible says so! Because it gets worser and people don\’t know how to keep the peace …God made the short time to ratpure His people and gather all people into His Judgement Day. His patience is long enough…especially God is very angry with the satan and his demons who destroy, kill people from God.. should He let satan doing that longer? No, God could not want that!

  31. Raoul-Duke-IIIOk I\’m glad we see eye to eye on the free speech thing. Ok let\’s talk about the nazis an the KKK. They took the name Christian, but were not Chrsitians at all. Many of the ones that died in Hitler\’s death camps were real Christians that stood up against him. Hitler hated Christians just as much as he hated the Jews. He declared that he would take care of the Christians after the Jews were extermenated. You should read the story about Deitrech Bonhoeffer Here is a link.http://www.dbonhoeffer.org/mambo/index.phpThe KKK are a cult, made up of whites only. That is not Christianity. They would be shocked to find out that Jesus was probably dark skinned. The real church which is called the body is made up of believers from every tribe and every nation. There is no distinction in colour for the true Christian. If you believe in Christ and have turned from your sins, you are my brother or my sister. Here is a good article on where they stand;http://jmm.aaa.net.au/articles/1515.htm

  32. Teresa Dawn said:

Ppl can claim to be Christians, and claim they have accepted Jesus, but if they do not live as He taught, then they are against him rather than for him, and therby not Christians. The rapture will come and will be a reward to those who remained true to Christ as we will escape this earth and the sin that is upon it.

  33. First you delete me, then you ignore me, I want to know what are your answers about Paul? You are a minister, can you not tell me your justification for choosing to follow only certain biblical passages. I am not sure if ministers of your faith need to be educated in any way beyond the bible, perhaps my questions are too difficult for you to answer. Is there any guage you use to determine whether a passage is figurative and does not need to be lived by, or if a passage was only relevant in its day and is not meant for the followers today, or if a passage is meant to be taken literally?Do you go with your own "gut" and follow what you agree with?Do you consider that even your judgement in matters concerning interpretation of the Bible may be flawed because you are a flawed human being?I will come back on Monday and hopefully read a reply.

  35. NicolePardon me for living and having to feed my children. I\’m always amazed at how impatient you so called tolerent people are. This is what you have posted on your web space. Surprise!(Here is the freak who I wish to torment:http://spaces.msn.com/members/Worshippersplace/PersonalSpace.aspx?_c01_blogpart=blogmgmt&_c=blogpartAnyone want to help me educate this freak?)Tell me why I should answer any of your questions nicole after finding that? You go on;(It is also obvious from reading other writings that he thinks that having women preach in church, or to be ministers is wrong, (because it was a woman who led Adam astray in the first place) and that they will only be saved by childbirth (1 Tim 2:9-15). Paul states in his first letter to the Corinthian church (11:14) that it is unnatural for men to have long hair! In this last passage Paul uses the same Greek words (para phusin) as he does when condemning Lesbians and Gays.If traditional churches wish us to follow Paul\’s words about Lesbians and Gays then they will also have to condemn men with long hair, women ministers, and state that women will only get to Heaven if they have babies (I think someone should tell Mother Teresa!). Until the main Christian churches start preaching Paul properly I see no reason why we can\’t say that he was biased by the prevailing sexism and homophobia of his background and his words should be taken with a pinch of salt (albeit a very large one!).Now no where on my space have I ever talked about not believing that women should be pastors or teachers and that is a discussion that I am not even going to bother to answer. Here is may answer on Romans;Pro-Gay Argument:This scripture describes people given over to idolatry, not gay Christians who worship the true God.Perry states:The homosexual practices cited in Romans 1: 24- 27 were believed to result from idolatry and are associated with some very serious offenses as noted in Romans 1. Taken in this larger context, it should be obvious that such acts are significantly different than loving, responsible lesbian and gay relationships seen today.Response: Idolatry certainly plays a major role in Romans Chapter One. Paul begins his writing by describing humanity\’s rebellion and decision to worship creation rather than the Creator. The pro-gay theorist seizes on this concept to prove that Paul\’s condemnation of homosexuality does not apply to him-he does not worship idols, he is a Christian. "But," Schmidt cautions, "Paul is not suggesting that a person worships an idol and decides therefore to engage in same-sex relations. Rather, he is suggesting that the general rebellion created the environment for the specific rebellion. A person need not bow before a golden calf to participate in the general human denial of God or to express that denial through specific behaviors."A common sense look at the entire chapter bears this out. Several sins other than homosexuality are mentioned in the same passage:Fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity, whisperers; backbiters, haters of God, disobedient to parents…. (vv 29-30)Will the interpretation applied to the verse 26-27 also apply to verses 29-30? Any sort of intellectual integrity demands it. If verses 26-27 apply to people who commit homosexual acts in connection with idolatry, and thus homosexuals acts are not sinful if not committed in connection with idolatry, then the same must apply to verses 29-30 as well. Therefore, we must assume that fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness et al are also condemned by Paul only because they were committed by people involved in idolatry; they are permissible otherwise.Which is, of course, ridiculous. Like homosexuality, these sins are not just born of idol worship; they are symptomatic of a fallen state. If we are to say homosexuality is legitimate, so long as it\’s not a result of idol worship, then we also have to say these other sins are legitimate as well, so long as they, too, are not practiced as a result of idolatry. Also in Romans 1:26-31 twenty-three punishable sins are listed with homosexuality leading the list. Paul wrote, "For this cause God gave them up into vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet" (Romans 1:26, 27). These verses are telling us that homosexuals suffer in their body and personality the inevitable consequences of their wrong doing. Notice that the behaviour of the homosexual is described as a "vile affection" (1:26). The Greek word translated "vile" (atimia) means filthy, dirty, evil, dishonourable. The word "affection" in Greek is pathos, used by the Greeks of either a good or bad desire. Here in the context of Romans it is used in a bad sense. The "vile affection" is a degrading passion, a shameful lust. Both the desire (lusting after) and the act of homosexuality are condemned in the Bible as sin.Again we don\’t hate homosexuals, but we can\’t agree with their lifestyles.

  36. If the KKK are not Christians, just because they interpreted the Bible in their own way, then you are not a Christian. If only the people that live as Jesus taught are true Christians, then no one living today is a true Christian – No one is perfect. Not even you, holier than thou. I think what nicolle has to say about selective Christianity is quite valid, and probably should be explored further. And just to be controversial I might add that since the Bible says little about Jesus\’ life before he reached his 30\’s, then maybe Jesus himself did not live such a pious life.Yes, all kinds of people died in the death camps. Christians, Jews, Atheists. Just because Hitler was a lunatic, does not make him specifically not Christian.Christianity is a cult. It began as a cult, now it is just the world\’s biggest cult. A cult nonetheless.Maybe Christianity is not inherently racist, but it definately does encourange segregation. Maybe this is one of it\’s biggest problems, that the people in the Christian church are so closed minded that as soon as someone within their group disagrees with something they say, then there is an imediate division of the religion. Where once you had one religion, you now have two very similar religions. Then every time there is another disagreement, the church splits in half again and again. This is why there are so many different forms of Christianity. This is stupid man\’s fault. So full of pride they refuse to admit that anyone they have anything to do with could possibly be in error.Noo! The christian church has never done anything wrong! That was a slightly different sect!I\’ll say again. If you use the name: Christian. Then you will have to acknowledge every person to ever wear the moniker. You cannot chop and change, and be selective about who is Christian and who is not. Either You and the KKK are Christian, or neither of you are.

  37. Raoul-Duke-III "Not all people who sound religious are really godly. They may refer to me as `Lord,\’ but they still won\’t enter the Kingdom of Heaven. The decisive issue is whether they obey my Father in heaven" On judgment day many will tell me, `Lord, Lord, we prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.\’ But I will reply, `I never knew you. Go away; the things you did were unauthorized" Matthew 7:21-23Anyone who does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother!" Matthew 12:50You are right many have co-opted the name Christian and it is wrong. Even Jesus says it and those who are not His true followers will have to answer one day.The bible that Jesus grew in wisdom and stature. He was sinless. The only sinless being who ever walked the face of this earth. Jesus was a carpenter like Jacob before the age of 30. After Jacob died He became the head of the household and had to talk over the carpentry buisness to help provide for His mother, brothers and sisters.I\’ll say it again. Being a follower of Jesus is not being part of a religion. It is a relationship with a very real person to whom His children talk to everyday. And yes He does answer. I have been in His presence. I have felt His touch. I have walked with Him. Hell is a very real place as I have seen it. I have heard the screams and even smelt the sulpher. There is only one way. And that\’s Jesus. He loves you. He loves everyone. You can say a million times He doesn\’t exist. It doesn\’t change a thing. He Is.

  38. Raoul-Duke-III ,We are not perfect and we do make the mistakes, but we still go to Jesus to have His forgiveness for our sins….Jesus says to follow HIm and learn to be Christ-like.. so we learn to live like Jesus did on the earth and we do what God comands us to obey… are called" christians". Its not our idea for the word…. it\’s God\’s idea to call His children " christians" who are true to Jesus. Only God knows the true hearts , are called as His children. Second is , you need to be careful how you scandel the " christianty" as a cult…. God\’s view is not. Third, why do you argue over the issues about the christianity and things? We come to talk about the gospels… help people to find Jesus to be their saviour. Do you Believe that Jesus Christ died on the Cross for your sins and to be risen from dead in three days? do you believe the Bible? Do you believe that Jesus died to free you? Then go to Jesus and be repent to serve your Lord Jesus… because He so loves you very much and that is why He was willing to come to the poor world and to die for our ( and your) sins on the Cross even He knew he was going to suffer so deep, but he wanted us more than His death! He went along to be killed in order to pay for our sins so we can be free. What more do you want from this discussion? Listen! Jesus loves you…. and call you to repent.

  39. Raoul-Duke-IIII think if you are just here to pester and nick pick, your time here is through. For a while I thoght you were sincerely seeking the truth. But I guess not.

  40. Funny, I wasn\’t given any chances, I never slandered anyone. Yet my opinions are constantly being deleted from this space. By the way, nice job on the generalization of the non-believers/ "tolerant" ones. Yes, we are all the same, all impatient heathens who have no care for anything but themselves. Well let me tell you something, as a non-believer I\’ve never used the word hate. I\’ve never condemned someone for what they believe, and I\’ve never told anyone that their decision to believe in something was wrong. Could you please grant me the same courtesy and not keep trying to tell me that I\’m not as good as you, that I\’m going to this fictional place called hell, or that I\’m wrong about my decision to support homosexuality, and other choices that people make in their lives. Oh, and I realize that if I don\’t believe in hell then I shouldn\’t worry about God sending me there, however I\’m sick of hearing about how I\’m going there.

  41. now this guy under me, he\’s got problems. He\’s the one you want to work on, he needs something, called a conscience.

  42. Hey Gerry, I see so many attacks on you and your site so often……….. Kepp up the good work Jesus is on the move in your life…………….. Bless you!!!! Joanne

  43. DarcyTCornelisse, Be careful how you said, "I realize that if I don\’t believe in hell then I shouldn\’t worry about God sending me there". I tell you that the hell is a real place! Oh, I wish God\’ d take you to visit down the Hell, it will tear down your doubts and then you are brought back onto the earth, you\’d preach like us! My old friend In Winnipeg, already visited in the Hell and witnessed people about the real hell. Take a look at the few webs about people who already saw the hell, heaven and were brought back on the earth to tell people the warns. http://www.aglimpseofeternity.org/testimony.htmhttp://mywebpage.netscape.com/marykbaxter/MaryKBaxter.htmlhttp://mywebpage.netscape.com/marykbaxter/MaryKBaxtersBooks.htmlThis web explains about what the hell is like… http://www.av1611.org/hell.html I pray that you\’ d sense His call, knowing God is real and the hell is also a real place which is not a party nor fiction place! Love you in Christ

You know when people are reacting in such a way that you are truly doing the work of God. As always, I am praying for your ministry Gerry :)God Bless,Teresa Dawn

  45. Gerry, I cannot agree with you more these are truly the days we were told of, it must happen this way, yet we must keep our eyes on Jesus we must walk with Him through all of this, The birth pains are here the labor is getting more intense, keep it up Pastor, Contending for the Faith, Joanne

  46. Gerry, did you see Raoul-Duke-III \’s msn space… it sounds familiar as the Rob\’s msn space…he uses your name in his msn space.. talks lot about yours , a bit of mine… etc…. it doesn\’t sound right.

  48. ( In Raoul-Duke-III \’s msn space- i left the comment for these who talked bad against Gerry)HI everybody,What will you say if Jesus is right there in your face? I am not shame to say that Gerry is a wonderful man, hard worker to share God\’s word with people… especially Jesus WON"T be shame of him for sure… He will exalt Gerry high as one of His worthy saints! The angels record every word you have spoken and be accounted in the Judgement Day….unless you repent from your sins. I just want you to know that i am not judging you, but God will in one day, however I plead you not to do that to him , please and he deserves a break! I encourage you to take a look in my msn space and other christian sites and see what God is doing among us to be sensed that God is alive and we suppose not to mock God because He watches us! I fear for what God \’d do with people like you. Please stop doing that way…. because if you don\’t , God will hold that accounts against you! I care for you… and i know you need Jesus in your lives, guys! Enough is enough for mocking God and His people!

  54. I do applaud you Gerry for sticking to your guns and commenting back to people pretty nicely after they\’ve said some not so nice things to you..but I just don\’t get it. Your comment to me saying "All religion is wrong. Yes folks you heard it here! Religion doesn\’t save you. Religion is trying to live by a set of rules. Christianity is about relationship not religion. You have a relationship with someone who is real. Someone who is living." Now i do agree with this, but on your past comments to me when I told you how I don\’t take the bible so literally -as about homosexuals and such you told me that then I am not a true believer in God, that God doesn\’t answer my prayers and that if I think he is answering them then its not him but the devil. So it seems kind of Contradicting to me.., I do have a reltationship with him Gerry although I don\’t believe in Religion-as with the bible and church, so are u saying good theres nothing wrong with that .. or are you saying NO you can\’t believe that way!I\’m just confused..

  55. hey garry… you have no idea who i am but oh well.my name is michal and i live in brockville ontairio. i just wanted to say it is SOOO cool that your space is like this!! i\’m a christan to and i love God w/ all my heart…. i\’ve struggle alot lately.. so it\’s great to see some one really show his/her faith for the world to see!! thanx so much for the lift and i pray God has a special plan for your life! i know he has one for mine =D kelly aka michal♥
