Jesus. Just the mention of His name either offends or brings peace. Who is He, this one who lived a short 33 years on the earth and yet impacted this world more than any other? A recent Time Magazine poll asked, which person had the most impact person of the 20th century. Overwhelmingly the people voted for Jesus. It became so lopsided that Time had to exclude His name putting in the stipulation that the poll concerned only those who lived in the 20th century. He has affected this world so much that history is really His story. His name has become a curse on he lips of many and yet at the same time many speak blessings in His name. Some will do everything to stamp out His name and yet others are willing to die rather than renounce Him as their Savior. Some say He was a good man who wanted to bring peace. Others say he was a madman or meant to con people.

Today we have such a wide opinion about who He is. The Mormons say He and satan are brothers and were born on another world. The Jehovah’s witnesses say He is the Arch Angel Michael. The Muslims say He was a prophet of Allah. Some say he was a wise man like Buddha or Confucius. Some groups even say He was an alien from another world. Jesus Himself even asked the question of His disciples. In the Bible in Matthew 16:13-17 it says; "When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked his disciples, "Who do people say that the Son of Man is?" "Well," they replied, "some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say Jeremiah or one of the other prophets."Then He asked them, "Who do you say I am?" Simon Peter answered, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God." Jesus replied, "You are blessed, Simon son of John, because my Father in heaven has revealed this to you. You did not learn this from any human being."

Whoever you are, you can’t take a middle ground on who He is. He is either a blessing to you or a curse. He is either your Savior or just another man. Who Jesus is, is spiritually discerned but there are certain truths and facts that we will investigate that will reveal That He was just who He said He was.

Nearly every theological heresy begins with a misunderstanding of what and who God is.You are absolutely right that there is no middle ground when it comes to Jesus; His death on the cross is THE singular event in history, the one event that all of history points too. The saints of the old covenant looked forward to the cross, the saints of the new covenant look back to the cross.I eagerly await this series on Jesus. Exploring His life never gets old, even for "seasoned" Christians. :-D~May the Lord bless you

  4. I think this poll from Time magazine must be biased. I find it very hard to believe that with all of the technology we use daily that people would still say god has had the greatest influence on people today. Without Bill Gates/Steve Jobs it is very likely that we wouldn\’t be using computers in the same way that we do today. In a life where everything in rich countries revolves around technology, I would expect that most people would realize the impact of technology on society.

  5. If anything Time magazine is biased against Christianity. The poll closed on January 19th 2000. Elvis Presley was the winner. You can take a look here.http://www.time.com/time/time100/poc/century.htmlThe original question was, who was the most influentual person of the 21st century. People overwhelmingly voted for Jesus. Time had to change the rules to those who actually lived in the century and removed His votes and the votes for Mohammed as well.Gerry

  6. Wow, i truly enjoy reading what u are writing about. I agree with everything you have said…thank u for expressing ur thoughts and beliefs..now others may not feel so alone…which is awesome… i am excited to continue to read on with ur blogsGod Bless

  7. Great blog! I really like your taste in Worship. What church are you associated with?

  8. Go right ahead. I find the confusion over Christianity and Americanism somewhat disturbing. I believe that we should influence culture (and government) but our aim is to lead individuals to faith in Christ. Our Worship brings more glory to God than our Patriotism or Activism.

  9. I really respect your message, and your dedication. It takes a man to stand up and proclaim his faith the way you do. Keep up the good work.

  12. Thank you for taking the time to fill this space with such awesome teaching about our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Day by day the time for His return draws closer and my prayer is that those who have thus far rejected Him, would find that their hearts have softened and that they here Him knocking and invite Him in. Revelation 3:20…Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If ANYONE hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him and he with me" What a wonderful eternity we have when we know Him as our dear Friend and Saviour. I look forward to reading your updates. God bless you.

  15. Gods blessings abound in this place: and, who could know that others may come and visit; and, leave with a blessing on their soul too: except God and His own. Thank you Gerry for the work you do here. I have been as close to God as I have been to reading and thinking on His Word; lately I have wondered away from both. Still I believe in Him and His promisess. I am greatfull to you for this oasis you have quenched my thirst on my journey. I will visit again

  16. Amen.
