Just another WordPress.com site

Some people have asked me where I stand on certain issues and lifestyles. What the Bible says is sin is exactly that, sin. Men will always try and interpret the Bible in ways to justify themselves or just entirely ignore it. They have given it all kinds of flowery names to make it more platable. They say well the Bible didn’t really mean that or it has been mistranslated. They say that times have changed and God has changed with the times. God is unchangable. Malachi 3:6 says; "For I am the the Lord, I do not change."

Jude 3-4 says; "Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt I had to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints. For certain men whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord."  There are those who would call themselves Christians who are doing that very thing and excusing sin in the church today.

I hate sin because God hates sin. But I love the sinner because so does God. Sin separates us from God. I can’t agree with the way they live because to agree would put me at odds with God. God is holy and no sin can enter His presence. He has also called His people to be holy. 1 Peter 1:13-15.says; "Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy."

He has also asked us to keep ourselves from those who practice sin even if they would call themselves a Christian. 2 Cor. 6:14-17 says; "Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will dwell in them And walk among them.I will be their God, And they shall be My people."Therefore "Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you." "I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the LORD Almighty."

Okay, really straighforward question; Is there like a book or something online that clearly and concisely explains the ways and philosophies of Jesus(please don\’t say the Bible, I know. I\’m thinking more along the lines of Jesus for Dummies). I really like the phrase "What Would Jesus Do?" but I honestly can\’t say with any degree of certainty what he would do given various predicaments, and reading obscure passages, although insightful, usually doesn\’t fall into what I am asking. Well that\’s all.You have a good day!; )

  5. Hi Gerry!I got a lot of them from http://www.mikesfreegifs.com and I lift some from emails people send me. I know…but I like to think of it more as being thrifty or recycling 😉 If you\’re looking for one specifically, ask me and I\’ll see if I have it or I can find it for you. There\’s also a website called http://groups.msn.com/Biffgifanimations/pictures that has a lot on it.Hope that helps!Kim

  7. Hi,Thanks for the story. If I understood you correctly, are you saying that I have a log in my eye? Or are we on the same wavelength with respect to giving advice? However, I think the story is very serious. Although I try to take most things lightly. The story brings doubt into my heart, which is not a feeling that I enjoy. But, I do now have that doubt. So, to clense me of this doubt I will willingly attempt to but myself in a state of ignorance rather than feel this pain. Which infact is making me repress the feeling to be expressed elsewhere. Who knows now when this repressed feeling will pop up. With respect to your blog entry about Hating Sin. I am treding on water with this topic and I don\’t know if I will offend you with this but here goes.By hating something in the name of God diminishes the purpose of God. So, in a circular argument Hate is a form of Sin. So, when we hate something we are sinning. Which is a direct statement that says we are hating some portion of God\’s creation which is suppose to be perfect. Or am I missing an element of some origional sin?I only know God through my personal experience with Him Daily and I cannot comment on our relationship because there are no words to describe it. Other than Love your Neibour. From my research all western religions the biblical God as a near eastern Monark of achient days. "King of Kings and Lord of Lords".And in my perseption God is not a boss in the common sence of the word but a wonderful everything that sets our lives in motion.Anyway, these are my heartfelt thoughts, not to cause any waves but to share my perception of the thing we do every single minute of everyday, Live.Peace broDarren

  8. Hi Gerry me again,I read over your comment again. I do understand. Sometimes the first time reading over a comment comes across wrong. And in all sincerity the best intentions online are not necessarily the best way to communicate, but with an open heart and mind your would be amazed at the potential.CheersDarren

  13. You are all going to hell. Everyone knows Roman Catholism is superior. No one needs a female preacher, teaching wrongful morals. You will all burn. All of you do not follow the right teachings of christ, you do not practise what you preach. OH my, I absolutely hate dumbass denominations.Godbless ye sinners.

  14. Hmmm…. The previous comment explains why the world has trouble taking the Body of Christ seriously. The Bible says very clearly that whoever calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved. If you believe that Christ died for your sins and rose again defeating the power of hell and death. If you have asked Him to be your Saviour, repented of your sins and living a new life. You are my brother and my sister. To say that any one denomination has the truth is wrong. Let me say to my Roman Catholic friend and I know that all Catholics don\’t believe this and are very sincere beleivers. Who do you pray to? Mary? Tell me where in the Bible it says that? Is your salvation found through her or Christ? Mary is a woman who was blessed above all other women but she needed salvation just like the rest of us. Or do you pray to the only one who is always making intersesion for us before the throne of God. There is only one mediator between man and God. His name is Jesus. 1Timothy 2:5

  16. Thanks for having a space that is dedicated for your love of Jesus. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. May our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ bless you. Tammy

  17. Hi friend,This comment is kind of long, and I wanted to get something off my chest. AndI\’d like to comment on the comment made by our dear brother or sister Anonymous, who is slightly out of touch with reality when they said they speak for the Catholic Church. I think they are trying to egg some really good folks on who are the participants on Gerry\’s good site.I am not offended by your remarks and I am a Roman Catholic. I have to admit that yes the Church has done some stupid things on their Journey, it is only the established religions that people have confidance in even with its scars and hounors. But throught out history its goal was to be a theocracy for the world. Since the separation of Church and State the Church has been pulled by political forces and if they didn\’t minister to that portion of the population things might have been worse. Or better depending on your particular encounter with the Church. Ie. Inqusition, crusades. It is not the only religion and it\’s definatly not the largest but people to have faith in this dogma. I am not the authority on the history of the church but I am interested in the psychology of religions. And your views are a natural process of comming to grips with your existance here on earth. (my views may be far out but they are grounded in the randomness of nature).I think we all want a better place to be in but we cannot blame anyone for the state we are currently in. We can look at the state that we call now because that is the only thing there is. The past is gone and the future will never arrive, we are continously on the edge of the future waiting and waiting and waiting for something that from our current perceptions will never realize. It\’s like going fishing for a fish in a lake without any fish. What can we do? We can either stop fishing and search for something else to do. We can seed the lake and come back in a year when the fish are grown or we can sit knowing that there are no fish in the lake and enjoy being alive, looking at the ripples in the water, feeling the pure amazement that we have the ability to feel a pebble in our hand, the wind on your face the warmth from the sun, do I have to continue or do you not understand the absolute amazing thing it is to be alive. In essance Praying. We can try to touch God but he, she, or it is intangible. Then isn\’t it the intangible ness that we are praying to or is it an idea. Some call it faith a belief but people experience these mystic events very individually and they are compelled with so much desire to spread this feeling, which is undescribable. But we can be good to each other and be productive in whatever society we come from. We are all esentially the same people. And really deep down the most important person is you. As it should be, which is very human. Some feel good when they are kind to others which on the surface seems like a selfless act or altruistic act. What is really happening is people seek this feeling which makes them feel good. Which is really not a selfless act because they are being rewarded for being kind. Which shouldn\’t be a thing based on rewards it should be a natural human tendency. To Love one another!Maybe when you read this you will think that this guy is wacked or in pain or sufferiing from something. And the answer is no, I am a bit tired from a normal days work and just like sharing my thoughts because I like to get comments on my own blog. I think some of you can relate to that. I don\’t have a particulat mission other than I would like some comments on what I would call my creativity through art. I woudn\’t say I am an artist but I tinker with drawings and technology to comeup with some very cool pictures. Word can be like daggars. Behind the words are feelings that cannot be described because we feel them, we cannot truly communicate a feeling, we can try but we never really will. I heard a statistic that 90% communication is non-verbal and 10% is verbal so the chances of me getting through to any of you are very slim. But if we think of it this way, that statistic is a 2 deminsional pie. That 100% of that pie of communicating is an infantly small slice of an infanatly large shpere. Tell me this. How do we work together without desterbing the bees? If I have to spell this out with words, it will deminish the meaning. Which is what happens to most explanations and rules, they get twisted out of context as time passes because the context is no longer there.Anyway, I know you are human, you are not a machine. We are all looking for something, people just describe it differently.PeaceDarren

  18. I try hard not to sin in my daily life, and rarely is it easy. It seems to me that society makes sinning acceptable, and a lot of the time it can be very difficult to go against the grain, stick it out and keep your moral footing. The wonderful thing about our religion is that God will forgive us should we slip up. I\’m always thankful for that.Excellent blog, might I add. Quite an interesting read, I\’ll make it a point to stop in from time to time. I have a blog of my own, but it isn\’t entirely clean, so I won\’t post a link because I respect your commenting rules.

  19. so i mean there are alot of sins that are talked about in the bible that aren\’t relevant in today\’s society….or thoughts that i consider a little disgusting that no longer apply. for instance… saying that a women that in mentrating is dirty and should not be touched…i mean honestly!!! if we weren\’t "dirty" every month than there wouldn\’t even be life on this earth.so in conclusion, i am 16, i am a women, i am a christian… but i do not believe that all sins can be justified as sinssincerely, britney

  20. You poor slaves… God is us… religion is control, WAKE UP!

  21. Better to be a slave and a servant to the King than a slave to sin. Christians seem to be the only ones who are awake.Gerry
