Rain Again

I don’t enjoy the rain. Oh it’s ok after a few hot days to cool things off. But when you have 3 straight days of rain, it begins to get to you. I don’t know how those who live in BC can take it. I need the sunshine. Dark dreary days bring depression, but sunshine makes you feel great. That’s the way God created us to be. Especially if you are a Christian. We are dwellers of the light. We live in Him, Christ, and in Him there is no darkness.

John 1:1-9 talks about the light. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.

This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. John 3:19

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”  John 8:!2

I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness. John 12:46

Light always pierces the darkness and when you dwell in the Light, darkness cannot hurt you. As Christians there is no reason for letting dark dreary days affect us. Even on the days when the sun isn’t shining, the Son will always shine. The only way the darkness can affect you is if you let sin in and have dominion over you.

"And oh I feel like dancing! It’s foolishness I know. But when the world has seen the Light, they will dance with joy like I’m dancing now" There is a great joy in the Light. Jesus is that Light and His love for us chases all darkness away. So if the rain gets you down, remember that the earth needs it  Just think about the Light. Think about His love for you. You are in Him and in Him there is no darkness.

Light of the world, You stepped down into darkness, Opened my eyes let me see, Beauty that made this heart adore You, Hope of a life spent with You. Here I am to worship, Here I am to bow done, Here I am to say that You’re my King, You’re all together worthy, All together lovely, All together wonderful to me.

Busy Sunday

Well it was a busy day, but overall it was a great day. Being with God’s family is always great. I want to make a habit of posting the songs we do here every Sunday.

1. Blow the Trumpet in Zion

2. For the Lord Is Marching On

3. I Want to See Jesus Lifted High

4. Faithfull One

5. All Heaven Declares

6. We Fall Down

7. I Saw the Lord

8. Holy, Holy, Holy

9. Glorify Thy Name

I felt the Lord telling me to keep it simple this morning, not to complicate things. Just to let His Spirit move. Our worship always lasts for at least an hour or more. Praise and worship is not something that needs to be rushed. We need to take the time to come into God’s presence. It prepares our hearts for the Word. I have been in churches were the worship just seems to be so rushed or is constrained by time. Who are we to put God in a box. We have these preconcieved notions that our service should be a certain way and thats it. What if God was to break into your church service and cause the worship to go on for hours. Would you be one of those who would be upset that your schedule was messed up? What if the worship got so intense that the pastor couldn’t even bring the Word. How far are you willing to go to let God take control of your time and your world? It’s something to think about.

Never Be Satisfied

We can never come to a point in our lives where we are satisfied in the worship of the Lord. There always has to be this longing to go deeper with Him. Last night as I was leading worship my heart wanted the congregation to draw so near to Him and yet it being mid-week, many were tired and their minds seemed to be elsewhere. I long for the day when there is no distractions and everyone is seeking the Lord with a pure heart. I long for His presence to fill the church so much, even to the point that none of us can stand, but we all must fall to our knees and faces. One thing that is frustrating for me is the fact that I can’t get on my knees or fall on my face due to the restrictions on my legs. Because of my disability. I am envious of my brothers and sisters in Christ. I long to do as they can. Which frustrates me even more when I know that God’s holy presence is there and they seem to be so out of touch with it. Not all are like that, but there are quite a few.

Oh Lord I hunger and thirst for You. I long to be iin Your presence at all times. I long for the day when I won’t have these restrictions on my legs and I can kneel humbly before you, worshipping you with every part of my being. But Lord for now I give You all I can give. I will not stop being the worshipper You have created me to be. Please continue to take us to places in worship where we have never been before. Show us Your glory. Don’t ever let those of us who seek you with a pure heart ever be satisfied with where we are in knowing and worshipping You. I love You my King and Friend. Amen

A great part of worshipping our God is surrender and it comes with a cost. We like to think that we are in control and make life’s choices That gives us a sort of false sense of security. Jesus said in John 15:16a " You did not choose Me, but I chose you." He chose us. He brought us to a place in our lives where we surrendered to Him our hearts and our lives. 1 Cor. 6:19-20 says: "You are not your own, you were bought with a price." Christ on the cross paid a very high price for us. It cost Him everything. He said in Matthew 11:28-29; "Come to Me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." He is not a taskmaster who asks us to do impossible things. He knows we can’t. He just wants us to stop struggling and worrying about the cares of this world such as what we will eat, what we will wear, who we will marry, where we’ll live, etc., and just leave them to Him. He will take care of all these things. All He wants is our surrender. He is in control of all things and never once has He lost control. Lord I surrender. This day is Yours. Do what You will.
